The 2010 election is about the role of government in times of recession and record deficits. Do we do something or do we do nothing? Based upon my 22 years as a bankruptcy lawyer and an economics professor, I believe we need to create a job for everyone who wants to work, provide health care for every American and outlaw the type of financial piracy that got us into this mess in the first place.

As I travel accross Iowa, I hear both the hope and concern in your voice. Just like you, I know how much we want a better life for our children while we struggle to pay the monthly bills, let alone put a little money away for college or our retirement. Why do the rich and powerful get all the breaks? We need to end the stalemate in Washington and retire the politicians who pursue their own narrow interests or trivial matters solely to garner headlines.
